She was predeceased by: her parents, Maxine I. McDermott (Friestad) and C. Henry "Hank" McDermott; and her nephew Jon. She is survived by: her children, Melissa Smith of Rochelle, Adam Smith of New York and Celina Smith (Josh Lopez) of Rochelle; her grandchildren, Phelisity, Mason, Jaxson Lopez and Colton Smith; her boyfriend Nick "Papa" Aguilar; and her siblings, Dan McDermott, Vicki LaRue and Tom McDermott.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the VFW Post 3878 (318 4th Ave, Rochelle, IL 61068).
