He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Hohendorf and Erika Hohendorf (Obst); his wife Doris Oesterle; his children, Michael Hohendorf of Palatine, IL and Elke Drendel (Richard) of Lindenwood, IL; and his grandsons, Michael and Matthew Drendel.

Memorials may be made in Horst's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
