He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his children, David "Harvey" Hawkins, Jr. of Rockford, Alan Hawkins (Christy) of Byron and Laurie Schoon of Rockford; and his sister Annabelle Peyatte (George). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
