He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan V. Sholders and Ruby Leone Sholders (York); his children, Richard Joe and Susan Elaine; and his siblings, Lois and Garold.

He is survived by: his wife Jane (Brown); his children, Roger (Debbie Sholders), Randy (Vickie Sholders), Sara Jane (Kevin Leffler), Lesa Jo (Jeff Yager) and Kay (Alan Wattles); his grandchildren, Lynnette (Tom DuSablon), Jerud (Chandi Earnest), Todd (Sara Sholders), Lindsay (Ethan Weber), Emily (Dustin Deterding), Derek (Kelly Sholders), Ethan (Nicole Sholders), Zack (Leah Leffler), Lucas (Kristan Leffler), Tyler (Chelsey Yager), Levi (Megan Yager), Cody (Jenna Yager), Sonya (Justin Howard) and Mitch (Bethany Wattles); his great grandchildren, Cole, Katelyn, Connor DuSablon, Hazel, Opal Earnest, Gunner, Cooper Sholders, Oliva, Morgan, Emory Weber, Hannah, Eliza, Claire Deterding, Jackson Sholders, Miranda Sholders, Maren, Nora Leffler, Race, Cruise Leffler, Ansley, Avery Yager, Barrett, Dallas Yager, Henry Howard, Jonah and Bennett Wattles; his siblings, Terry Sholders and Janit Sue Provines; and his sister-in-law Donna Newbold. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
