She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester H. Sans and Aldene Y. Tornowski Sans; and her son Jeffery Flessner. She is survived by: her husband Lloyd K. "Bud" Flessner of Roberts; her sons, John Flessner of Champaign, Joseph Flessner of Champaign and James Flessner (Rebecca) of Loda; her grandchildren, Ariel Denault (Axl) of Paxton, Austin Flessner (Taylor Nelson) of Forrest, Autumn DeYoung (Rudy) of Donovan and Alexis Stevens (Colton Burr) of St. Joseph; her great grandchildren, Xander, Isabella and Amberley; and her siblings, Becky Milstead of Frankfort, Cheryl Keiper (Brett) of Mt. Juliet, Alan Sans (Sandy) of Bloomington and Dode Sans (Debbie) of Paxton.

Memorial contributions in Phyllis's name may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to an organization of the Donor's Choice.
