He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Backer and Ruth Holzhauer Backer; and his sister Shirley Redmund. He is survived by: his wife Mary McConnell; his children, Jason Backer (Shaila Wilson) of Downs, IL and Brooke Backer of Las Vegas, NV; and his grandchildren, Nathan and Allison Backer.
