Terry Moats Obituary
Age 69, of Rinard, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, December 2, 2022, at his home.
He was born January 21, 1953, in Flora, the son of Paul William and Dora Mae (Burnham) Moats. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Duffina on November 11, 1972, at the Xenia Methodist Church and together they have shared 50 wedding anniversaries.
Terry worked at Jenmar in Flora until it closed and later worked in construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, hogging, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis Moats of Rinard; children: Christopher Moats of Rinard, Stacy Highsmith of Rinard, Michael (Cherish) Moats of Zachary, Louisiana, and Ellen (Marvin) Lister of Cisne; 10 grandchildren: Dylan (Relynn) Moats, Ashley Moats, Jenna Moats, Megan Harvel, Brittany Highsmith, Cole Highsmith, Skylor (Lacy) Lister, Leslie (Kenny) Drake, Angie (Adam) Young, and Matthew Lister; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Russ (Laura) Moats of Flora, Randy Moats of Louisville, Everette (Pam) Bissey of Cisne, Jason (Ashley) Bissey of Xenia, Terry Bissey of Clay City, Jerry (Donna) Beachner of Independence, Missouri, and Doug Beachner of Independence, Missouri; sisters: Linda (Steve) York of Independence, Missouri, Paula Griffith of Arthur, Tina Stanley of Louisville, Mindy (Rick) Green of Flora, Paula (Terry) Young of Flora, Cindy (Alan) Hefter of Independence, Missouri, and Sam (Kenny) Sanders of Olney; a brother-in-law: Dwight (Linda) Duffina; 2 sisters-in-law: Betty (Ron) Tolliver of Olney, and Janet Duffina of Fairfield; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved dog: Bullseye.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Iva Louise Moats; birth mother and stepfather: Dora Mae and Sherman Beachner; 2 brothers: Curt Moats and Dale Ray Bissey; brother-in-law: Don Griffith; sister-in-law: Tabby Bissey; and a son-in-law: Jerry Highsmith Jr.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
