He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Shelly and Edith Shelly (Erdman); his son Leon Shelly; and his sister Janice VanHauen. He is survived by: his spouse Mary Ann Oppold; his children, Kirk Shelly (Marsha), Mark Shelly (Darla), Jill Homan (Tim) of Rockford and Lisa Starliper (Terry) of Freeport; and his sister Barbara Briggs of Freeport. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
