He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonathan A. Cox and Effie E. Cox (Murphy). He is survived by: his wife Florence K. Cox (Gregg); his sons, Mike (Jeanie Cox), Robert (Sharyon Cox) and Gerald (Tracy Cox); his grandchildren, Tammy Arnold (Bruce), Michael Cox (Angie), Leslie Thompson (Brad) and Tracy Cox; his great great grandchildren, Peyton, Noah Arnold, Jonathan, Gracie Cox, Ellen, Brice and Blake Thompson; and his nieces and nephews, Barbara Schoolmeesters (Cox), Kay Smullen (Cox), Bridgett Evers, Pat and Tim Gregg.
