He was predeceased by: his parents, Axel Swanson and Bertha Swanson (O'Berg); his siblings, Helmar, Gerald Swanson and Shelby Tobias; his siblings-in-law, Mary Swanson, Gordon Fellows, Kenneth Shaffer, John Tobias and Walter Koetz; his nephews, John and Ronald Swanson; his niece Lorraine Babcock; and also Patricia O'Brien.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Swanson of Ransom; his sisters, Hazel Fellows of Streator and Harriet Koetz of Seneca; his sister-in-law Jean Swanson of Ransom; his godson Axel Swanson of Ransom; and his brother-in-law Richard Alberts of Chicago. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
