He was predeceased by: his parents, Fay H. Massey and Alma Massey (Jones); his spouse Vonnie Naas; his daughter Connie Rae Massey; and his siblings, Joe Massey, Jack Massey and Mary Ruth Kight.
He is survived by: his son Brian Massey (Carri) of Raleigh; his stepdaughters, Lisa Conner (Craig) of Denver and Tracy Nelson (Rob) of Raleigh; his brother Ted R. Massey of Galatia; his grandchildren, Samantha Massey, David Potter, Jewel Massey and Catherine Massey; his stepgrandchildren, Ned Conner, Dan Conner and Ally Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Owen Zentz, Raelee Massey, Addyson Potter, Emmitt Potter, Eathan Potter, Caleb Potter, Spencer Potter and Eliza Potter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
