He was predeceased by: his wives, Janice R. "Jan" Dodd and Janice Rose Schmidt. He is survived by: his parents, James E. Schmidt and Joyce M. McLaughlin Schmidt; his children, Lacey Schmidt (Adam) of Quincy and Ryan Schmidt of Clayton, IL; his siblings, Rich Schmidt (Barbara) of Quincy, Karen Watters (Rob) of Quincy and Sharon Humphrey (Fred) of Clayton, IL; his siblings-in-law, Kevin Dodd (Belva) of Houston, TX and Deborah Dodd of Quincy; and his nieces and nephews, Mikki Morris (Keith), Nicole Kuhlman, Jimmy Hopkins (Nancy), Justin Hopkins (Mary), Katie Kline (Darrell), Stacy Roberts, Jessica Warner, Brenda Hughes (Joshua), Kimberly Runquist (Andy) and Henry Dodd (Laney).
