He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Heaton and Roxie Stoops Heaton; his wife Helen LaVon Stillfew; his son Steven Wayne "Doc" Heaton; and his granddaughter Danyel Ruscoe.

He is survived by: his daughter Loretta Hyslop (Harold) of Quincy; his grandchildren, Jesse Lee Heaton of Quincy, Chip Hyslop of LaBelle, MO and Kelly Hoener of Marietta, GA; his great grandchildren, Lennie, Hunter Hyslop, Kennedy and Zepplyn Ross; and his brother Ben Heaton (Lois) of Wheaton, IL..

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Quincy Memorial Park (5200 Broadway St, Quincy, IL 62305). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
