She was predeceased by: her parents, Josiah Matthew and Katie Cooper Matthew; her husband Willie; her sons, William A. Gavin, Jr., Sterling Gavin and Keith Edmond; and her siblings, Christine, Billie, Joseph, Samuel, Loretta and Everett.
She is survived by: her children, Elaine Gavin of Chicago, IL, Victor Gavin (Carla) of Peoria, IL, Steven Gavin of Illinois, Adriane Brooks Gavin of Chicago, Sharon Gavin of Quincy, Neickole Annette Evans (Wayne) of Broadview, IL, Latrice Gavin of Chicago, Ezra Gavin (Shaonda) of Peoria and Geanetta Gavin of Chicago; her daughter-in-law Sharon Gavin of Chicago; her siblings, Nathaniel (Suzanne), Evelyne, Bobbie Jean, Naim "Jacob", Katie Mae, Florence and Dereck; and her nieces and nephews, Raquel Marie Perez and Neane Johnson. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at the Johnson Funeral Home (5838 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60651).
