She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Bertha Smith, and Archie Smith, Sr.; her husband Vernon C. Steele; her brothers, Archie C. Smith, Jr. and Alexander Webb Smith; her nieces and nephews, Brian C. Smith of Charlotte, N. C, Steward Smith of Bethesda, MD, Jawarda Dia Cooley of Suitland, MD, Dr. Brenda Smith of Atlanta, GA and Linda Bromley of Raleigh, N. C.; her godsons, Colonel Carl Ramsey of Des Plaines, IL and Phillip Matthews of Cairo, IL; her nieces, Daniella Steele Ellis of St Louis, MO and Davonda Brown of Olive Branch, MS; and her sisters-in-law, Claudette Jordan and Evelin Steele of Tamms, IL.
