He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Sr. Blackert and Alice Blackert (Pratt); his wife Betty Jane Pont; his daughter Pam Kostner; his great grandchild Noah DeRycke; and his brother Jerry Blackert.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Angela Cantrell (Dean), Kirk and Cheryl DeRycke (John); his great grandchildren, Lisa Marshall, Matt Kostner, Ethan Cantrell, Seth, Jacob, Dusty DeRycke (Jill), Adam DeRycke (Hope) and Cory DeRycke (Michelle); and his siblings, Annabella Kostner, Cordelia DeRycke of Rayne Marshall, C. J, Caroline, Claire, Katelyn, Kyla, Rachel and Nathan.
Memorials can be made in his name to the Red Blackert Memorial Fund.
