He is survived by: his wife Luanne Florschuetz; his children, Katia Butler (Cameron) of Hooppole, Jared Urban of Ridgeway, WI and Derek Urban (Alayna) of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Kaito and Autumn Butler; and his siblings, Janet DeDecker (Terry) of Pleasant Hill, IA and Richard Urban (Nancy) of Signal Mountain, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials to the Wisconsin Natural Resources Foundation, the First Lutheran Church of Prophetstown, and the Henry County Natural Area Guardians have been established.
