He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Kopp and Ruby Frances Kopp (Loudenburg); his wife Carolyn VanDeGenachte; his siblings, Bertrum Kopp and Alberta Ioder; and his son-in-law John C. Weber.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Weber of Springfield, Sandra VanderMeersch of Springfield and Jerald Kopp of Buda; his grandchildren, Tyler VanderMeersch (Kasey), Travis VanderMeersch (Rachel), Justin Kopp and Julia Kopp; and his great grandchildren, Ariya, Axtyn and Ruby VanderMeersch.
