He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Smiley and Marjorie Smiley (Holt); his grandson Nicky Vingren; his sister Carolyn Reisen; and his brothers-in-law, Ed Reisen and Bernie Sneed.
He is survived by: his spouse Love Sharon West; his daughters, Kristen Fournier of California and Kara Smiley of Chicago, IL.; and his siblings, Dennis Smiley (Beverly) of Cedar Falls, IA, Linda Sneed of California, Kathy Bolgren of Iowa and Charlotte Zieman (John) of Overland Park, KS.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for charitable distribution.
