He was predeceased by: his parents, June Rose Salmond and Richard Elmer Gillespie; his siblings, Timothy Gillespie and Jane Ellen; his friend Robert Rueter; his nephews, Joshua Shaw, Brian Wiersema and Matthew Corley; his niece Johanna Gillespie; and his siblings-in-law, Terry DeVos, Joseph Kerner and Julie DeVos.
He is survived by: his close friend Harriette DeVos; his wife Harriette; his children, Amy Gillespie (Matthew Walk), Ann Gillespie (Andrew Gower) and Daniel Gillespie (John Krokidas); his grandson Charlie Gower; and his siblings, Michele Smith (Paul), Richard Gillespie (Terri), Greg Gillespie, Mary Wiersema (Doug), Mark Gillespie, Thomas Gillespie (Kathy), Peter Gillespie (Kathy) and Susan Gillespie (Dave Fulgham). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law, as well as many longtime friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Princeton IL Lions Club Scholarship Fund or the Princeton Public Library.
