He was predeceased by: his sons, Charles "Chuck" Smith and Dennis Smith; and his siblings, Eileen Schwab, Don Smith, Melvin Smith and Ivan Gene Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Bickett Smith; his daughter Judith Smith Brown (David) of Princeton; his sister Margie Christensen (Don) of Peru; and his grandchildren, Shelli Smith, Charles Jay Smith, Kelli Smith Wenglewski, Randy Smith, Lisa Smith May and Shana Brown. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Princeton American Legion.
