With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David N. Bernstrom of Port Byron, Illinois, who passed away on September 7, 2020 at the age of 86. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of David N. Bernstrom to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Nils and Leona Bernstrom (Petersen); and his sister Linda Breckling. He is survived by: his significant other Mary Bernstrom August (Wiese); his children, Shannan O'Connor (Mark) of Vero Beach, FL, Susan Burke (Dave) of Bettendorf, IA and David II; his grandchildren, Katie, Brian, Maggie, Kevin Burke, Nils and Serafina Bernstrom; and his sister Susan Foster of Port Byron, IL..

Due to concerns with Covid-19, there will be a drive by visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, 202 N. Main, Port Byron. Graveside services will be private in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Port Byron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a the Seafaring Marine Association, c/o Susan Burke or the gofundme account created to honor his lifelong dedication to his Marine brothers and Sisters.
