With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Robert Whalen of Poplar Grove, Illinois, born in Belvidere, Illinois, who passed away on January 6, 2023 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Whalen and Helen Whalen (Behlmer); his siblings-in-law, Bob and Faye Manuel; his brothers, Dan and Larry; and his nephew Sean.
He is survived by: his wife Rita; his children, Kimberly Branom (Edward) and Joseph (Laurie Capitosti); his grandchildren, Allison Sanford (Matt Geissman), Tyler Sanford (Rachel), Michael Whalen, Alexa Pollace and Mattie Whalen; his pet Jet; his siblings, Pat Whalen (Evie) and Mary Whalen; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Whalen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is establishing a memorial fund in Michael's memory.
