She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Myron Potter and Zella Potter (Harris); her husband Robert Carroll; her children, Charles Carroll (Kathy) of Graymont, IL, Steve Carroll (Debbie) of Pontiac, IL, Jeanne Moore (David) of Pontiac, IL and Nancy Gates (Todd) of Hanna City, IL; her grandchildren, Jackie Williams (Craig), Patsy Monts (Issac), Brad Carroll (Ashley), Amber Whalen (Jay), Kaity Carroll, Stevie Carroll (Valerie Hurt), Ashlee Bertan (Aaron), Casey Moore (Lindsey), Alecia Gorham (Cameron), Carissa Gates, Kylie Gates and Ethan Gates; and her great grandchildren, Sydney, Ember, Levi, Olivia, Brayden, Allyson, Noah, Tyler, Emma, Jack, Brynlee, Blayke and Bennett. She was also cherished by her daughters, daughter in laws and granddaughters.
Shirley served as Illinois Federation of Music Club President, Chairman of the Golden Lyre Foundation and Representative for Illinois on the board for National Federation of Music Clubs.
