He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Smith and Inez Tipsord Smith; his brothers, Jim Smith and Rick Smith; and his brother-in-law Joe Moore.

He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Marshall of Pontiac, Tim Smith of Tennessee and Randy Smith of Pontiac; his grandchildren, Addilynn, Sophie, Kileaha, Azalya, Silvie, Gwenivere and Evangeline; his great grandchild Maggie Mae; and his sisters, Helen Moore of Fairbury and Cathy Dalton (Mike) of Chenoa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
