We bid farewell to Margaret Garrels of Pontiac, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 17, 2024 at the age of 78. Margaret touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles B. Reid and Margeret Deleon Reid; and her husband Jim Garrels. She is survived by: her children, Janet LaVarier (Doug) of Blackstone, Jeff Zapp (Sharon) of Pontiac, Kenny Zapp (Pam) of Fairbury and Mike Zapp (Charity) of Fairbury; her stepdaughters, Dawn Harper (William) of Spokane Valley, WA and Brenda Johnson of Benson, AZ; and her siblings, Judy Grossich, Jean Ferre (Keith) of Decatur, Jackie Gerber of Fairbury, Theresa Reid (Doug) of Fairbury and Don Reid (Angie) of Kempton. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Duffy-Pils Memorial (100 W Maple St, Fairbury, IL 61739). A graveside service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Forrest Township Cemetery.
