He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence DeFrees and Helen DeFrees (Setzer); and his siblings, James, Robert "Bob", Clarence "Ken", John, William "Jake", Paul and Mary Ferguson.
He is survived by: his children, Lori Opiela (Larry) of Joliet, IL and Tim DeFrees (Kay) of Hudson, IL; his grandchildren, Jonathan Opiela, Hunter DeFrees and Dylan DeFrees; and his sister Helen Abry of Odell, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Grade School in Odell, IL or to the family.
