He was predeceased by: his wife Alice (Dotson); his parents, Ralph Ovitt and Frances Ovitt (Teal); his brother Jerry Ovitt; his stepdaughter Barbara Bill (Dave); and his grandson Joey Fleming.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Mike Dotson (Colleen), Catherine Tunnell, Alan Dotson (Monica) and Patricia Hagy (James); and his siblings, Beverly Newton, Carol Jenkins, Judy Smallwood and Curtis Ovitt (Sherry). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

“We are sooo saddened by the loss of DuWayne, he was a special neighbor and friend of ours. He babysat our lil Annie & cockatoo when we went on vacations a couple of times for us. He loved animals* Whenever Annie and I would walk near his house she would start to walk up the driveway and whenever he was out we went to talk for a bit. He will be missed. You are now with your loving wife, my friend :)”
