He was predeceased by: his parents, Verl Payne and Opal Payne (Alton); his siblings, Betty Heath and Larry Moore; and his sister-in-law Garnett Payne.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara "BJ" Barrett; and his children, Jonathan Payne (Lisa) of Adel, IA, Stacey Linder (Melvin) of Mendon, IL and Brandon Payne (Amy) of Belvidere, IL..
