He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward O'Bryant and Bernadine Hardmon; his wife Bobbie Baker Brown; his children, Kathy Regina Brown, James Brown, Jr. and Linda Sue McCann (Brown); his children-in-law, Michelle and David; his grandchildren, Tyler (Sue), Sarah (James Jr.) and Eden (Sue); and his siblings, Maxine Brown (Reynolds), Deborah Brown (Griggs), Vivian Brown, Charles Brown (Brenda) and Bernard Brown. He was also cherished by 11 children.

“I was sorry to hear of the passing of my good friend Jim. To his family, you have my deepest, most sincere sympathy. I worked with Jim for many years at Pennzoil and we have spoken at least once a month since his retirement. I own a Christmas Tree Farm, I will plant a tree in his honor. No body will ever be able to cut it down. It will grow on forever in his honor. My wife and I will keep your families in our prayers Steve & Chris Ochs”
