He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Linnea and Axel Conrad Carlson; his former wife Doris Carlson; his wife Agnes "Brownie" Carlson; his sons, Thomas Keith Carlson and Richard Kurt Carlson; and his brother Arne Carlson.
He is survived by: his daughter Virginia C Smith (Ken); his grandchildren, Kris Smith (Meg), Karie Skipper (Matthew), Jennifer York (Myles) and Katie Carlson; his great grandchildren, Alex Smith, Julia Smith, TJ Skipper, Elle York and Grey York; his great great grandchild Milo Smith; and his daughter-in-law Jan Carlson (Jim Micho).
