He was predeceased by: his parents, Gregorio Mendoza and Jacinta Mendoza; and his siblings, Augustine, Henry, Nacho, Rafaela, Mary, Otilia and Carmela.
He is survived by: his wife Isabel Castillo Mendoza; his children, Norman Mendoza, Lenore Whitman (Keith), Eileen Cruz (Rogelio), Diane Mendoza (Grant Lee), Leonard Mendoza (Christine), Suzan Brucato (Steve), Ruth Pavlik (Robert) and Julie Morris (David); and his sister Theresa Garcia. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, also numerous nieces, and nephews.
