He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Swartz and Marie Perry Swartz; his son Steve Dawson; and his brothers, Harold and Bill Swartz.
He is survived by: his wife Leona Swartz; his son Stacy Swartz of Detroit, IL; his grandchildren, Becky Coats (Clay), Stevie Surratt (Tony), Jessica Swartz and Jeremy Bray; and his great grandchildren, Camree Coats, Kenley Coats, Jackson Surratt and Dallas Surratt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
