He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry and Mary Iftner Wright, Sr.; his son Harry Smith Wright III; his sister Georgia Scherer (Ron); and his siblings-in-law, Terry Beck, Charles Hower and Margaret.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Hower; his sons, John Wright (Funmi) of Columbus, IN and Peter Wright (Anita) of Pittsfield, IL; his granddaughters, Ebun Okuleye-Ash (Kareem), Tobi Wright, Yomi Wright, Margaret Wright-Calvey (David) and Zoe Wright; his great grandchild Kai Ash; his siblings, Wayne Wright (Margie) of Sandwich, IL, Carol Beck of Barry, IL and Marilyn Whitman (Bill); and his sister-in-law Barbara Hower (Lloyd Rakosnike).
