He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Bathon and Lydia Bathon (Schmalriede); his wife Sarah E. Harris; his son Gerald Bathon; his siblings, Eutoala Heisner, Leonard Bathon and Alfred Bathon; his daughters-in-law, Lisa Bathon, Judy Bathon and Patricia "Trish" Bathon; and his granddaughter Stacey Fox.

He is survived by: his children, Sister Julia Bathon (Mary) of Stockton, IL, William Bathon (Marsha) of Pinckneyville, Richard Bathon of Du Bois, Leonard Bathon (Barbara) of Carlyle, IL, Lawrence Bathon of Lexington, KY, Donna Malick (Bob) of Nashville, IL, John Bathon of Ashley, IL and Janice Rust of Coulterville, IL; and his siblings-in-law, William Harris, Naoma Harris and Doris Bathon. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery or St. Mary Magdalen Building Fund and will be accepted at the church.
