It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James S. Getzie of Pinckneyville, Illinois, born in Dowell, Illinois, who passed away on April 13, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Getzie and Minnie Getzie; and his sisters, Julia Refka, Mary Getzie and Emma Epplin.

He is survived by: his wife Deloris "Dee" Markotay (McDonnough). He is also survived by two step sons, one step daughter, and various grandchildren.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin V.F.W. Honor Guard and will be accepted at the funeral home.
