He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Helvey and Eunice Helvey (Martin); his wife Geneva Eileen Eaton; his granddaughter Rhonda Kaye Helvey; his siblings, Albert Helvey (Cathy), Paul Helvey (Gloria) and Wanda Slusher (Orval); his sisters-in-law, Lorraine Ozburn (Howard) and Virginia McCrary (Beak); his nephews, Perry Rushing, Don Ozburn and Bill Ozburn; and his niece Judy McCrary Childers.
He is survived by: his sons, Larry Helvey (Nora Beth) and Ronald Helvey (Joann) of Pinckneyville; his sister Evelyn Rushing (Ira) of Pinckneyville; his grandchildren, Bryan Helvey of Marion, Kristin Helvey Harris of Carterville, Susan Garavaglia (Jim) of Pinckneyville, Jeanna Deaton (Aaron) of Yankton, David Helvey of Pinckneyville, Gabe Helvey (Christy) of Pinckneyville and Raini Reeves of DuQuoin; and his great grandchildren, Landon, Emma, Madison, Aidan, Daniel, Regan, Ashlyn, Austin, Braelyn, Conner, McKenna, Raelei, Carter, Cole and Coen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Beaucoup Baptist Church Deacon's Benevolence Fund or Major Building Fund.
