It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Smith of Pinckneyville, Illinois, who passed away on July 20, 2023, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Bernice Smith to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Hoffman and Lillian Hoffman (Feltmeyer); her husband Billy D. Smith; her grandchildren, D. J. Toler and Debbie Mohr; and her siblings, William Hoffman and Lois Fisher.
She is survived by: her children, Roger Smith of Pinckneyville, IL, Linda Ruffino (Johnny) of Glen Carbon, IL and Janet Toler of Mt. Vernon, IN; and her grandchildren, Dana Shorfheide (Gary), Doug Hutchings (Laura), June Rinehart (Dan), Lisa Nelson (Jerry), Mark Smith (Nancy), Steve Smith (Dawn), Erin Queen (Toby) and Darin Toler. She is also survived by great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
