He was predeceased by: his parents, John Houghland and Marguerite Houghland (Lueker); his wife Anna Mae (Hubler); his son John Houghland; and his siblings, Melba Macri, John Lavern Houghland and Harlan Houghland.

He is survived by: his daughter Debra Jo Moore; his grandson John Edward Houghland; his daughter-in-law Kathy Houghland; his grandchildren, Shawn Moore (Janelle), Ryan Moore (Kristi), Stacey Perez (Kevin Reid) and Brenna Elston (Chris); his great grandchildren, Meagan Boyd (Zach Sharp), Maddie Boyd and Alyson Perdue (Spencer Trimble); his great great grandchildren, Everleigh and Layton Sharp; and his brother Ron Houghland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
