He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert R. Mellen and Doris Mellen (Turner); and his close friend Rex Schumacher. He is survived by: his wife Rachael; his children, Elizabeth Craig of Bloomington, Alice Mellen and Robert C. J. Mellen; his daughter-in-law Kerry Flood-Mellen of Cleveland, Ohio; and his sister Jill Mellen of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by cousins and friends.
