Robert left this world on February 6, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Kessel and Frances Kessel (Tones); and his wife Marjorie Theresa Mazzorana of Valentine's Church. He is survived by: his children, Mark (Ann) of Longmont, CO, Matthew of Indianapolis, IN and Peggy Tonarelli (Roger Ellerbrock) of Clinton, IA; his grandchildren, Amber, Benjamin, Emily, Stephanie and Anthony; his great grandchildren, Logan, Liam, Gionna and Naomi; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Mazzorana of Peru, Judy Grant of Peru, Janet Langham of Peru and Joseph "Joe" Mazzorana of Peru. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mueller Funeral Home - Peru (909 Pike St, Peru, IL 61354). A memorial service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Peru City Cemetery (2121 Shooting Park Rd, Peru, IL 61354).

“It is with sadness that I acknowledge the passing of Bob, a long time friend of 65 years. From wedding to wedding and baby to baby we enjoyed many happy times together. I remember many conversations between my husband, Ken, and he about their days in 29 Palms, California. Marines to the end! Recently I discovered we shared the same birthday.That led to quite a conversation. I'm not sure which one of us was the oldest! I will remember him in my prayers. I know he is at peace.
