He was predeceased by: his parents, Letta Richards (Goering) and Burton James Richards; his wife Melva Croisant; and his son Jeff. He is survived by: his daughters, Kris Widmann (John) of Grantham, NH and Andi Heidenreich (Jim) of Carmel, IN; and his grandsons, Nick, Ben Widmann, Alex, Luke and Zach Heidenreich.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Melva A. Richards IVCC Foundation Scholarship that was established by John in 2020.
