He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Schmitt and Rita O. Schmitt (Bosshart); and his brother-in-law Les Lockridge. He is survived by: his children, Kristen Heron (Rohan) of Arlington Heights, Adam Schmitt (Brittany Moss) of Ottawa and Ryan Schmitt (Sofia Simon) of Granville; his grandchildren, Elliott and Harper; his stepgrandchildren, Ayden, Rylie and Addyson; his siblings, Jack Schmitt (Melissa) of Mills River, NC, Cynthia Lockridge of Peru, Charlie Schmitt of Peru, Nancy Theisinger (Ken) of Peru, Joe Schmitt (Kathy) of Peru and Ann Marie Schmitt of Peru; and his former wife Cathy Schmitt of Spring Valley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Mueller Funeral Home (909 Pike St, Peru, IL 61354). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
