He was predeceased by: his father Eugene Gatchel Sr.; his sisters, Dolores and Mary Anne; and his brother-in-law Brandon Bruning. He is survived by: his mother Dolores Gatchel (Farrell) of Peru; his wife Chris; his children, Jacqueline "Jaqx" Leota of Spring Valley, Eugene Gatchel III of Ladd, Dylan Gatchel (Jason Hopkins) of Princeton and Taylor Gatchel (Kaylee Potochney) of Peru; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Masina-Rose, Elianah, Seren-Teuila and Baby Boy Gatchel; his siblings, Rose Gatchel of Rockford, Therese Bruning (Jerry) of Pekin, Tom Gatchel (Lisa) of Alexandria, IN and Anne Gatchel of Chicago; and his nieces and nephews, Brandon, Matt, Patience, Mike, Chelsea and Sierra.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion.
