He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Butler and Vera Smith Butler; his son Jerry Butler; and his siblings, Fred, Larry Butler, Darlene Butler, Anne Lawber and Jane Lawber.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert (Christine), Steven (Shirley) and Gary Butler (Janet); and his grandchildren, Rob Butler (Mary), Angie Butler Daniels, Tawny Butler (Zach Francis), Donald Goewey (Kim), Tonda Eisenburg and Terry (Erica). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Detroit Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
