With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John L. Smith Sr. of Percy, Illinois, born in Cutler, Illinois, who passed away on November 3, 2020 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert J. Smith and Ollie Irene Moore Smith; his granddaughter Emily Reiman; and his sister-in-law Patsy Smith. He is survived by: his former spouse Tinneth "Ruth" Church Mathews; his wife T. Ruth Smith of Percy; his children, Donna Carroll (Wayne) of Mt. Vernon, IN, Eddy Mathews of Percy, Joy Underdown (John) of Herrin, IL, John L., Jr. Smith (Sharon) of Willisville, Larry Mathews (Kathy) of Beach Park, IL and Sandy Reiman (Scott) of Campbell Hill; and his siblings, Carol Lively (James) of Campbell Hill, Patsy Briley (Jerry) of Cutler, Kenneth Smith, Sr. of Cutler and Robert Smith (Kathy) of Cutler. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
Due to executive orders, social distancing and face mask guidelines are to be followed.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Cutler.
