It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sam Smith Jr. of Peoria, Illinois, born in Halls, Tennessee, who passed away on February 24, 2022, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam, Sr. Smith and Dochie Smith (Payne); and his siblings, Issac Smith, S. D. Smith, Frank Smith, John Wesley Smith, Joseph Smith, Billy Smith, Jr., William Lawrence, J. D. and Annie B. Flowers.
He is survived by: his children, Sam Junior Smith (Lacie) of Green Bay, WI, Christopher Michael Smith-Brooks of Peoria, IL and Cara Emily Smith-Brooks of Peoria, IL; his stepchildren, James of Peoria, IL, Penny Richardson of Peoria, IL and Molly Smith of Louisville, KY; his siblings, Mary Booker (Robert) of Peoria, IL, Fannie Tipton of Peoria, IL, Bertha Burnett of Milwaukee, WI, Ray Winbush of Detroit, MI and David Miller of Covington, TN; and his sister-in-law Kathy Smith of Covington, TN.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family, friends.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing is encouraged to be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them).
