She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Gillum and Ellen Gillum (Blakely). She is survived by: her children, Ricky Tims of Peoria, Frank Ball (Veronica) of Rantoul, Cornelius Morton (Aquilla) of Peoria, Linda Jackson of Peoria, Burnette Mangum of Peoria, Vickie Harris (Jeffrey) of Peoria, Martha Suggs and Lindaann Charleston (Johnny) of Peoria. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren.

“It is with my sincere condolences that I give in the passing of a great mother and friend Ruth Reed. Ruth gave me great joy as I went through times when I needed it. Her laughter was intoxicating especially when she knew she was doing something that she wasn't supposed to be doing while she mentored me about life. Unfortunately in these times of pandemic, we could not see each other for me I did not want to pass this virus to anyone if I had it. RIH my beautiful friend.”
