He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Hayes and Finnie Hayes; his significant other Charlotte; his brother Alonzo Hayes (Lonnie); and his son Tony Rummans.
He is survived by: his cousin Ross Hayes; his children, Dianne Clark, Nora Crofford, Michael Rummans, Kim Lue, Lorenzo Rummans, Aaron Rummans, Lori Rummans, Regina Trice, Torlen Rummans and Etta Carter (Ruthie); his sister Nora Pauline Bryant; and also, Peoria Mayor Rita Ali and Carrie Erving. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
