He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel McKean and Barbara McKean (McDowell); and his stepson Melvin Lawson. He is survived by: his wife Marcella McKean of Peoria; his children, David J. McKean (Jessica) of Peoria, Jesse McKean (Meggan) of Dunlap and Maggie McKean of San Diego, CA; his stepchildren, Tiffany Lawson of Peoria and William Lawson of Kewanee; his grandchildren, Matilda, Tessa, Zuri, J'veon and Kyré; and his siblings, Elizabeth Jones (John) of Ashland, IL, Daniel J. McKean (Kathy) of Fenton, MO, Peter McKean (Mary) of Bradford, IL, Mary Ewing (Jeff) of Albert Lea, MN and Martha Galow (Phil) of Oswego, IL..
